All this transformation is part of renewal of the embattled government of Hosni Mubarak that seeks to change the look of the Egyptian capital.

The official Ibrahim Abdel Razeq, 36, like many low-paid employees of the Government of Egypt, also has two jobs. The scheme made it possible that he could access a loan to buy a taxi.
"Egyptian Gano 388 pounds (67 dollars) a month with my day job, which I can not afford to meet the needs of my family, so I have to work in the taxi at night to supplement my income," Abdel Razeq said.
Launched in April 2009, was hailed as a welcome boost for Egyptian firms. This only covers cars assembled in Egypt, although the parts to build them are foreigners.
"The program was launched during the economic recession and helped domestic automakers during the crisis," said Mohamed Abdel Aziz, an official of the Ministry of Finance.
