National Flag
Created in 1812 by Manuel Belgrano during the struggle for Independence of the United Provinces of Río de la Plata. On July 20, 1816 by Decree is adopted as national symbols, and in 1938 the Congress passed a law that is set as Flag Day on June 20, the anniversary of the death of its creator.
proportional Composed of three stripes, two separate celestial blue by a central white stripe bearing a yellow rising sun gold, surrounded by 32 rays: 16 straight and 16 curved alternating.
The Official Flag measures are: 1.40 mts. long by 0.90 meters. wide.
1st. Official decree on the flag
legal consecration of the attitude taken by Belgrano on February 27, 1812, corresponded to the Tucumán Congress at the initiative of Deputy Juan José Paso. The decree, written and presented by the Deputy for Charcas, José M. Serrano, was adopted at the Session of July 20, 1816 as follows:
"Elevated United Provinces in South America to the rank of a Nation after the formal declaration of independence will be their peculiar distinctive blue and white flag has been used so far and will be used hereinafter only in the armies, ships and fortresses, smaller class flag, meanwhile, ordered the end of these discussions, the most convenient form of government to the territory, it is prescribed pursuant to the hieroglyphs of the flag higher. The Congress of Tucumán (moved to Buenos Aires), a proposal by Mr Chorroarín, adopted as the flag of war the same as that already used, but with the Incan emblem of the sun in the center.
